I was most impressed by your site - I found it via Webcrawler when looking for "visitor attractions"+Highlands so was somewhat surprised ! I had to have a look as I only a few months ago had to throw away a blue cap I used for golfing that had "Malawi, the warm heart of Africa" that I bought in Blantyre in 1974 - 24 years ago! I used to live in Blantyre and was Assistant Manager at Ryalls Hotel for a short time in 1974.
Malawi sounds lovely, I hope to see it soon.
I grew up in Limbe, Malawi. Your page is wonderful, brought back lots of memories - and my - do I want to return to live! Zikomo

As I read the message that I just sent, I noticed a significant mistake. We taught at Likune from 1964 to 1967. (Not in the '90s but in the '60s.)
My wife and I taught school (as missionaries) at Likuni Boys Secondary School from 1994 to 1997. We plan to visit Likuni and Lilongwe in August of 1999 and would like to make contaact with someone at either place. Anyone there that wishes to respond, please do so at cttimpe@home.com.

Hello to my fellow Malawian's...Yes I am homesick and this information that you have provided has been very enlightening. I would like to hear from anyone that knows me. I am Malawian born and raised, went to Hillview primary school, St. Andrews Secondary and graduated from the A-level program in 1994. Am currently a Speech Pathology graduate and waiting to go to graduate school. I remember Mrs.Mullen who did have a chip on her shoulder. Once you got to know to know her she was not as bad as she seemed. I remember Mrs. Sloane too from Hillview and sad to hear that Mr. Sloane passed away. By the way, I do remember you Lisa Myers. We were in the same house...Soche, Debbie Bowler's little cousin! If you still go to this page I would love to hear from you.Hello to all you Malawians out there who know what it feels like to be away from home.

Malawi is the most magical place on earth.

Dear Llolsten Kaonga: I was very pleased to find your web page on my computer this evening. Many years ago, in the late 1960's I became acquainted with Blantyre, Malawi through a pen pal that I acquired while in high school. His name is Jones Robert Liwonde. I have always wondered what became of him. Do you know of him? All I can remember is that he attended Socke Hill Secondary School and his uncle owned a store. I would appreciate hearing from you concerning this. You have a very nice and informative web site. Thank you. Diane Whaley mdwhal2@shreve.net

I want to visit Malawi in the end of march. I want to have information about the weatherconditions. There is falling a lot of rain in Eastern Africa. I suppose that this is or was the same in Malawi. I wonder if the rainy weather had bad influence on the condition of the roads, because I want to travel by car.
Keep it up
I lived in Malawi for nearly 20 years. Both my children ( who were born in Blantyre ) and my wife still remember the beautiful days which we had over there. I'd like to go to Namibia next summer but I don't find any information about main places to see, or places to go if I want to dive, if I can do scuba diving or only snorkelling, what are the conditions if I come from Zambia, if it's safe to drive from Johannesburg to Lilongwe via Harare and Lusaka...and many other things about Namibia. I'm new on the web and it's not really easy to use it. Thankyou for helping me. E. blougorn

Just want to say I was here.
Hi...what a surprise. I was born, bred, belong and will return to Malawi. With my English wife and expectant twins. I want to know if anyone else was at St. Andrews 1970-73. Names - the Mavians, Frank Humphrey Gascoine (remember him - I met him in London. Married now, lovely Scottish wife, terrible cook! Sally Attridge? I used to fantasise about her when I was 14. Maths teacher LGWP Jones? And Mr. Grant - geography teacher. Hated my guts cos I was non white. Oh, and Mrs. Mullen. Now there was a teacher! You got less than an A and believe me there was no reason for you to be alive - in her eyes. Mr. Watkins who was carrying on with a teacher in the library. Remember the Borgsteins - the doctors, I should say. Yup - 7 sons, 5 doctors and one of them had the cheek to marry my sister, Bernie! Whatever happened to racial separation? Well, they're in London too with a couple of kids. Who else? Bernie is in touch with Denise Kekwick, daughter of the French teacher there. Also in touch with the Pallases - Sabrina - Debbie is back in Malawi. See you soon, girl! Other names from the past - Adrian Ledsham (?), Jackie Mavian, the youth club gang - you know us - we were the ones in the back row of the Apollo heckling everyone. I'll keep you briefed as I remember. IMme
you have done a great deal to maintain a presence for malawi on the net not to mention familiar point of interest for malawians such as myself.
Just thought I would leave one additional comment - if anyone reading this ever went to Bishop McKenzie School in Lilongwe during 1979-1981 I would like to hear from them. I lost touch with everyone I knew from that time and it would be nice to know if they are still out there. Cheers, AJ.
Love the page! As a child I spent two of the best years of my life in Lilongwe, Malawi. I have always dreamed of going back, but this is the next best thing. I wish there were some pictures of downtown Lilongwe so I could see how it has changed since 1981....

good old fashioned malawi initiative! Great!
I am a nyasanetter who dropped by to see what the page was about. I admire what I've seen and think it's a great idea. My background: Having been born in Malawi, we [family] left for Ghana in 1966 and consequently I was brought up all over the place because of my Dad's work [diplomatic service then the UN]. I studied law to M.Phil level at the university of Sussex then the London School of Economics. I am currently recovering from a brain haemorrhage/ stroke, which is the main reason that I tend to 'lurk' on nyasanet rather than contribute. As to the page, Malawi has alot to offer and we need all the positive exposure that we can get, so thanks!!

Hi! I was born in Malawi and left for Portugal in 1977. If any of my friends from Hillview Primary School ever reads this page please contact me. A great part have left Malawi ages ago. It would be nice to hear from them, though. I am still in touch with Mrs Sloane, our std 5 teacher's wife as Mr. Sloane passed away one or two years ago. My dad was a barber in Limbe (Lisbon Salon - Gent's Hairdresser). I am planning to go over for Xmas after such a long time!!! If anyone "bumps" into any of my family please say hello. I guess I'll be visiting this page more often. Malawi is a beautiful country and hard to forget. I'm glad it is a democracy now and hope that, with the right guidancei, t finds its natural balance very soon. Cheerio!
it is good to find something on malawi.i went home in the summer of 97. there was major reconstruction going on to the roads which made the traffic conjested.however this was for the best as my parents inform me .now malawi's roads are better. i think a giant step for malawi is addition of a new radio station, the music is great (baring in mind that we do get music a little later than other countries) and they have assorted programs which in the long run i feel will benefit the rural areas as now there is a choice of two stations for information. i miss home anyone who has gone home or just wants to talk about malawi write in. p.s this page is brilliant.

hello
It seems like a long time since i visited, I was born in Malawi and it is nice to see it even from afar again, If Kathy Chisala (as was)reads this how are you doing message me back!
Muli Bwanji?. I am geologist and surveyor. I´ve worked in Malawi in 1991 and 1992 as a surveyor under ESCOM¨s Rural Electrification Project. Among this work was the surveing of 600 km. of power lines, mainly all of them in the Southern Region. During that time I lived in such diferent places as Blantyre, Ntcheu, Mangochi, Lilongwe, Liwonde, etc., and I want to say that I´ve likely seen so friendly and gently people in my life. I miss malawians very much (ˇincluding driversˇ), we laughed a lot together many times, and I miss Malawi also, with his Lake, Mulanje, Zomba, the chambo,...., and a special tomato soup that I tasted many times in Blantyre and nobody writes about it.
Its nice guys keep it up. Is this page intended for friends of Malawi or just a list of users ? or a lsist of Malawians
Hello folks !!
